unbroken box set

Unbroken – 3 lp box set
Unbroken is back together, once you play more than 5 shows it’s a safe bet you’re back together. Which necessarily is not a bad thing, the lps have been out of print for years and Indecision Records repress their entire discography for a box set for the show at the glasshouse in Pomona last year. Show was awesome and all 500 box sets sold out. I got one for me and my boy Martin in Argentina.
It was actually Martin who booked Unbroken’s first show in DC with Mean Season. This was also Battery’s first show back. It happened at Club Asylum on U Street. I think the club has now relocated several times and is under a new name. They were on the news recently for an incident after an Agnostic Front show. So random that this lil hole in the wall is still around.
Indecision has recently repressed the box set as a 3 lp with gatefold covers. Better scoop these up quick cause there is only 1000 pressed. I’m not sure what the colors are but im just happy I have another version of these records. I’m going to get creamed for this but I actually like ritual more than life love regret. I’ve met several stupid girls that have this tattooed on them. This is becoming the hardcore tramp stamp…

Frontiers -- There will be no miracles here

Frontiers

You take the singer of Elliot / Falling Forward and add members of Mouthpiece, the Ekindals and you get Frontiers. This is on No Sleep Records. Fans of their prior bands take note this is really good. I picked this up at Amoeba and wasn’t expecting much and was surprised. The 2 releases I picked up on No Sleep Records have been really good. Now I need to order the white version of this.

and speaking of miracles here is our Halloween costume from this past sunday....

Stimulators – loud fast rules!

Stimulators – loud fast rules!

I picked up this lp at Amoeba for 14 bucks. It was alot cheaper here then buying it at a distro for 18 bucks and an additional 8 bucks for shipping. I own the ep and have had for a few years. I also have a nice dub of the cassette with a cover that my friend Dave Brown made for me a few years back. This was Harley from the Cro Mags earlier band. He was I think 12 years old when he was on this recording. It comes with a download code which is nice.

lack of interest

Lack of Interest

Lack of Interest has been around since 1990 and is probably one of the last remaining power violence bands from that era. I have never heard of them till they opened up for Ceremony a few months back. I saw the perform again with Vitamin X and Broken Needle this past weekend and decided I need to pick up the lp on Deep Six. The band is great live, last week when they perform not only did they do an Infest cover but they also do a Spazz cover as well. This lp is great and the time I saw them perform with Ceremony they had 2 singers, this past show was just one. The guitarist had a small distro and was selling 2 lps for 10 bucks. So Marlon bought me and him an lp. As an added bonus it is on color vinyl.

rotting out -- fall 2010 tour with soul search

Rotting Out – demo ep with Soul Search 2010 tour stamp

Marlon who runs Hard Press Records made a stamp to put on the Soul Search Demo ep for them to take with them on their past tour with Rotting Out. There was going to be 100 eps with this stamp. He test stamped on a rotting out demo ep. So this is a one of a kind ep. I need to make a cover for it.

La Dispute – Somewhere at the Bottom

La Dispute – Somewhere at the Bottom

I can’t believe im going to say this. This double LP is awesome. I witnessed them last week as they were on tour with Touché Amore and Envy. This sounds like a cross between Rites of Spring meets Saves the Day meets Helmet. Seriously if you listen to the song Damage Goods it sounds like the music is off of Meantime. The vocals are screechy and broken ala Touché Amore meets Peter Brady from the Brady Bunch. When they played the Chain Reaction last week it was insanity. In fact Touché and Envy did awesome as well. I saw the same show in San Diego at a 21 and up bar and instead of 400 kids singing along there was 8 ha. My friend Natalie had extra tickets. But if you like emo and rock this is a great record on No Sleep records. I’m sure this guy made tons of money on this release. Keep in mind I hate all new releases and I have caught my self bobbing my head up and down to this. In fact I bought one of their shirts with a huge flower on it. Thinking about it I don’t think ill ever wear it. The stand out track is last blues for bloody knuckles. Dude sounds like he is about to write in his online journal and kill himself.

Buried Alive – Death of a Perfect World

Buried Alive – Death of a Perfect World

The first time I saw Buried Alive was with Sick of It All. They were always good live but the intensity of their live show to me was not really captured on record. I don’t know maybe it’s the studio they recorded their record at. When a few of my friends were in Terror, Victory Records wanted another Buried Alive Record cause Scott was still contractually obligated to them. Matt and Todd told me they were just going to do another lp and call it Buried Alive. Luckily it never happened. Well I got this LP in a trade from Colin off HYE. This is on clear vinyl and it is oop. I’m sure some smaller label will eventually rerelease this.
